(the View from the apartment at the Svenssons)
(Sunset over Skälderviken; 9:45pm)
(The loungeroom of the granny-flat with 2 bed loft)
(Kitchenette)
(My incredibly comfy bed for the two week period)
After my two weeks with the Svenssons it was time for me to move into my new
host family the Sandbergs in Skälderviken (5km north
of Ängelholm). I was only with them 36 hours before shipping out with the
Waterpolo team to Norby, Norway (30 km south of Oslo) for an overnight
tournament. We came second.
(Johan Sandberg and Atomic their 12 week old puppy)
The following week of school was very quiet
with the majority of students off studying and preparing for their final exams.
(Hanna och Elin)
(As you can see by the lack of books, Doni is clear intrenched in his studies)
(Simone)
On Torsdag my new host sister Linnéa was competing in a Basketball tournament
up in Göteborg so my host father Johan and I drove up to watch her play and
have a look around Göteborg.
The weekend was typical of Skåne; bright
sunny, cool breeze and flowers everywhere.
(Backyard)
On Lördag (Saturday) I was inviter by Per
Neander to come with him and the GSE-Exchange team from South Africa (a group
of 4 South Africans touring the district with rotary for a month). Per took us
all around Ängelholms commune with private tours of the local castles and art
galleries.
(The castle was built in 1531)
(Huge grounds surrounding the castle)
We moved on to the Kvidinge Village pottery (near the quarry where the tiles for the Opera House in Sydney were made)
We then had lunch at Tomarp Kungsgård; the Kings old winter estate. Now a restaurant and art gallery.
(Gustaf Frölich... governor of Skåne)
This is the point in the day that I took over Magnus' camera so I practiced my photography skills on the 4 GSE teammembers.

(Jaques)
(Emily)
(Ronlyn)
(Magnus, Ängelholm Rotary Club President)
Our final destination was a pigeon farm in Ängelholm
Jaques is an avid racing-pigeon breader back in South Africa.
(Rosie Bliss the other Rotary Exchange student here in Ängelholm)
(Bad-ass Pigeon)
The day was toped of with a big dinner with a large group of Rotarians and politicians to welcome the GSE team.
Söndag was spent lazing in the sun
attempting to get a tan but to no avail. I then went and saw “The Avengers” with
some friends from Vittra.
Monday was amazing with a whole school
excursion to Nimbis on the south shore of Skälderviken bay. Here Lars Vilks (a very
controversial Swedish artist) has built a gigantic wooden fortress out of scrap
wood. 3 or 4 Huge towers 12-15 meters high with connecting tunnels weaving up
the side of the hill.
The Fortess is approximately 3 km from the nearest bus stop over fairly steep terrain.
The rest of the week was spent in relative silence due to exams and assignments being due.
ON Saturday I caught tåget (the train) up to Laholm to the final overnight district camp for the swedish outbound students as well as the oldies going back to America and Japan.
(the 'oldies' of RYE 2011-12 District 2400)
(footy on the beach)
(certificates of Completion from the District chairman)
(human coffee table)
Olivia, the girl on the far left, is the out bound student to Australia from Ängelholm. She will be placed somewhere in the district just north of
(the Kiwi's got bored)
The water was a nice 15 degrees C.
Next wek I'm off to Liseberg, an amusement park in Göteborg, with the kids from Vittra before we break up for the summer break. It's been announced that Vittra Fram (My current school) will close in a years time so a lot of students are leaving so i will probably move to Rönne Gymnasiet in the autumn so this will be my last day with my current group of friends.
